Coccydynia & Tailbone Pain
Symptoms & Signs
The Coccyx or tailbone is right at
the end of the spine. A pain in this
area is called Coccydynia.
The usual reason for Tailbone pain
or Coccydynia could be a fall, and
an injury in that particular area by
slipping or falling.
Tailbone pain can be intense which
can get worse when sitting or during
bowel movements. However there may
be no tailbone pain while standing.
When sitting, tailbone pain is sharp
and severe and increases the longer
you sit.
A physical examination reveals a
point tenderness or a deformity of
the coccyx.
Your professional health care
provider may prescribe medication to
reduce the pain.
If you suffer from constipation too,
tailbone pain can become intense
during bowel movements if you need
to strain during defecating.
