Telecom Management Software
Sprint's Fonview
telecommunications management
software tool should find its way
into the cellular arena by the third
quarter of this year, according to
Sprint Wireless Service Product
Manager Mark Fisher, here last week
at the Cellular Telecommunications
Industry Association (CTIA) annual
meeting Wireless '94. The Kansas
City-based telecom company
demonstrated its software here to
gauge cellular carrier interest.
Fonview, a computer-based call
reporting and analysis network
management tool, originally was
designed for Sprint's long-distance
telecom market management.
With Fonview, operators can analyze
their own call-traffic patterns. The
software's three main functions
incorporate establishing custom
reporting hierarchies, account
reporting, and rebilling services.
In cellular adaptations, Sprint will
integrate cellular phone options
into the original software design.
"The enhancements for cellular are
in the process of being developed,"
Fisher told us. The company used the
show as a venue to gauge cellular
interest for its product and plans
to beta-test Fonview in its cellular
markets, Fisher said.
The beta test will include five
large customers, he said, but was
unable to disclose their identities.
"From a cellular carrier's
perspective, I think they will be
interested in Fonview," Fisher said.
The software, available optionally
on CD-ROM, works with a 486 PC, he
saidm
