Toddlers & Computer Games.
Toddlers are in a special window of
time for learning. Everything they
see, touch, use or play with,
becomes a learning experience.
Everyday they learn from their
surroundings and from their play.
When that play can include the
computer, then the learning also
includes computers, which will be a
part of a lifelong learning
experience. So, toddler games are a
unique way to introduce the
computer.
Your toddler can first learn to move
the mouse. Use the computer games to
help teach opposites like top,
bottom or even right and left. Then
as he watches the computer screen
filled with colourful and tastefully
decorated pictures, he will find
himself drawn towards learning the
computer games. The computer games
display several everyday objects and
the sounds they make. Your toddler
can learn to move the mouse from
object to object and click on them
to hear the sound. You will need
speakers or earphones. Use the
computer games to help your toddler
recognize each object, say the word
for the object and then guess the
sound that object makes, before
clicking and hearing it. Saying the
words for representations of real
objects is the precursor to reading.
So, the computer games start the
journey to reading in a fun way.
